I needed a place to focus on all my work: writing, research, studying, and organizing – a place to boost productivity. Sure, I can hit the big table at the library or the noisy café with free WI-FI, but those got tedious and full. Since sneaking around unfamiliar territory, I’ve found some nifty little hidey-holes I want to share that I would have never considered before.
Whether you are a student, freelancer writer, or just a lifelong learner of all things informational, this list is guaranteed to give you some out-of-the-box ideas on where you can study with minimal distractions.
Not only am I going to land you the best spots, but I’m also throwing in some tips on how to get the most out of each cozy spot to improve your study routine. So put your noise-canceling headphones on, and be ready to pack your bag for a new place to learn!
Use These 7 Best Places to Study – Thank Me Later
I’ve found some good places to study over the years, but the more I used those spaces, the more I got used to my surroundings and stopped focusing on my work. It’s like re-watching my favorite TV show and using it as background noise. I stopped paying attention to Ross telling Rachel they were on a break.
Once, I was submitting an essay request on WriteMyEssayToday, and I lost my train of thought and uploaded the wrong citation page! Thank goodness my assigned writer could quickly adjust once I realized what I did. Anywhoo – I believe I’ve perfected the best study places and wanted to share them with you. So, read along and tell me what you think.
1. Bookstores are surprisingly quiet and comfy
Especially if they have a café built in. If you live in a big city, I suggest picking the small, locally-owned bookstore over a large corporate-owned one. I’ve tried studying at Barnes and Noble, and I couldn’t focus for more than 10 minutes with all the kids running around.
You can find study spots in far back or corners away from the checkout counters and crowds. Once, I found this tiny bookshop on a dead-end street and completed my entire article before realizing how much time had passed. My focus was on point that day with a cushy chair, my laptop pillow pad, and the perfect lamp they had hidden in the corner.
Pro Tip:
- Pack noise-canceling headphones.
- Set a timer.
- Check with the bookstore owner that it’s ok to park your butt in the back for a few hours.
2. Get the creative juices flowing – Try your local museum!
If you want to try out some public places to study, check out museums in your area. I was writing a paper on art history and wasn’t finding what I wanted in the library.
I remembered getting guidance from an art expert when I last used WriteMyEssayToday, so I hung out at the art museum across town to get some inspo. I people-watched, walked around to check out the art, and read the plaques in a few rooms while jotting down the things that caught my eye. Then, I found a bench and set to organizing my thoughts.
I felt so productive that day as I walked around and stretched my legs. So often, we think research means being stuck in a chair all day surfing the ‘net, but did you know that keeping your blood flowing throughout your body helps the brain focus and even recall images and information?
3. Speaking of libraries – They are still excellent options
Two of the most important things I consider when searching for a place to study are lighting and room to lay out all my books, notebooks, and accessories.
Pro Tip: Unless you study with a small group, stay away from those long tables out front where everyone plops down. Instead, I have found that some public libraries have back rooms or conference rooms you can sign out and use for a private study session.
That is where the magic happens, and I can be the most productive since I am away from all the public distractions. Plus, you can check all the boxes the University of Minnesota says you need for a productive study space:
- Make the space your own
- Remove distractions
- Lay out your tools
- Connect to free WIFI (or don’t to avoid social media pings)
- Set a timer to take scheduled breaks
4. Co-working Space means co-using supplies
My first year at college, I had everything I needed, or so I thought. Once I found out where to study alone, I realized I didn’t have half the tools to research and take notes properly.
Sure, I was alone, and it was quiet, but if I needed help, no one was around. It took me 3 years to find these co-working spaces the university set up where students and professors could mingle quietly, share space and supplies, and even put heads together for group projects. Don’t make my mistake and wait 3 years to find them!
Find one now and save yourself the grief and money by not having resources at your fingertips. Everyone there was polite and considerate of others, and it was surprisingly productive being surrounded by others working just as hard as I was to get something done.
Pro Tip: WriteMyEssayToday is THE best partner for submitting essays and assignments on time!
5. Need a new perspective? – Try the Rooftop!
I know it’s not conventional, but I found the typical study places somewhat distracting and stuffy. I hated ALWAYS trying to find a good spot inside, so one day, I found myself on the roof of my dorm building, and it was A-mazing! I had the entire place to myself, unlimited access to fresh air, and inspiration for my essay on the city’s problem with pigeons and old buildings.
The only downside is that there are typically no comfy chairs on the roof, so I had to create my own space and bring some additional supplies. Still, when I needed to place an order with WriteMyEssayToday, I’d just bring my laptop with me, log in, and click “Buy custom essay” now. There was no mess and no fuss, and I embraced the benefits of being out in nature, like increased attention, motivation, concentration, and working memory for all my other assignments.
6. Embrace peace and quiet with parks and public gardens
I read an article once while waiting at the doctor’s office about tips and tricks to improving your concentration, and 4 or 5 of them can be achieved by studying outside.
For instance, you can train your brain with seek and finds, puzzle games, or people-watching when you need a break. You can stretch your legs and walk to the coffee shop across the park to get a dose of caffeine, and you’re spending time in nature! Parks and public gardens are unique study spots that most students don’t think to find.
I, for one, stumbled upon this little public gated garden where tall Evergreen trees hid the benches to cut out noises of the general public. After I watched the birds flit about for 20 minutes or so, I shook off the wonder and got down to brass tacks when my notification from WriteMyEssayToday came in that my final draft was ready to review!
7. Nothing beats home sweet home – or a friend’s home
One of my familiar go-to places to study is Home Sweet Home. I’m comfortable there; I can raid the fridge whenever I want, and if I don’t want to wear headphones, I crank the music up loud to drown out the stress.
Home is where I can get my S.M.A.R.T. on, and by that, I mean I can Specify what I’m working on, Measure my progress, set Achievable goals relevant to my task, and Time how long it will take me and when I need a break. If you live too far from campus or your home is not suitable, make friends with a classmate and go home with them!
You get a study buddy, quiet time, and probably a home-cooked meal. My best friend in college came from a Southern background, and her mamma always insisted on feeding us before we left. Sometimes, we just submit our assignments to WriteMyEssayToday and veg out on cornbread and ice cream.
Pick Your Favorite Place or Rotate Through Them All
I have so many places to go study that I can pick a different one based on my mood. Now that I’ve shared some with you, you can find similar options around campus or your home. I know that being outside really helps me concentrate and focus on the task at hand, but being in a co-working space or a small study group boosts my productivity way more than when I’m studying solo.
Pro Tip: the best place to submit your custom assignment requests to WriteMyEssayToday is in that secret garden or the rooftop. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished than hitting “Submit order” then watching the world pass by.
Some Parting Tips Before You Go Study
Now that you know how to find your spot, I leave you with some tips and tricks to best utilize your spot. Whether it’s a favorite go-to or you create the best places to study list like I did, you need to have a spot mentally ready for your mastermind to engage.

- Put a “spot” light on your studying
- Dig in and get comfy for a long session

Still Have Questions?
Where can I find places to do homework for me?
Well, they don’t do it FOR you, but you can buy an essay with WriteMyEssayToday, and they work WITH you to complete an assignment you submit. You supply the details and a small price; they put your work together into an organized research paper.
I’m studying abroad. Will this list help me anywhere?
You can use the same list when you search for places to go to study in your hometown, across the pond, or across the country. I hear England has beautiful public gardens that would be great for natural lighting and private studying.
How do I keep the most popular place to study a secret?
Some of the best-kept secrets are meant to be shared! For instance, when I learned I could search “write my research paper for me” and found WriteMyEssayToday at affordable prices, I couldn’t wait to tell my friends. Share the wealth and show your closest friends your favorite spot to study.
How did you find the best place to study away from home?
Ask yourself, “Where is a good place to study closest to me?” and view your surroundings as an outsider. You see the same buildings all the time. Now look at them as if it’s your first time again. Look for little bookshops, small museums, and coffee shops you don’t visit with friends. THAT is where you find your diamond in the rough.
